Seriously? 14,000 things to be happy about? Ok, you’ve piqued my curiosity.
I saw this book when I was in my teens, which was about four score and seven years ago now. I thought it was such a great idea, a simple but extensive list of things to be happy about.
My mom came through, as always, and got me the book. It’s traveled with me through the years, always finding a spot on a bookshelf or coffee table.

Find Your Happy! 14,000 things to be happy about?!
14,000 Things to be Happy About was originally published in 1990. It was put together over about 20 years. And it doesn’t stop there! A revised version with 1,500 new entries was published in 2007. The 25th anniversary edition, revised and with 4,000 new entries, was published in 2014.
The author, Dr. Barbara Ann Kipfer, has 70+ publications to her name. She’s a Chief Lexicographer which means she’s super smart with words.
Well, technically, Merriam-Webster states the definition of lexicographer as “an author or editor of a dictionary”. So maybe she actually wrote that??
Whoa. Her website is even super happy and fun. Just another way to find your happy. Check it out here.
I’m glad she put her way with words into this fun book. It’s the perfect addition to any coffee table or bookshelf.
I love opening it to random pages to be inspired to smile, think or start a discussion with my 10 year old about something she’s never heard of (ex. bobolinks. I had to look that one up. Thanks again, Merriam-Webster. I’m definitely not even close to being a lexicographer.)
- sleek limos

I love having this chunky little book just for me. (It’s 4″ x 6″ and almost 2″ thick!)
